the first delay (part 1)

at first the plan was to set out in the early morning of September 23rd. then it became 1 pm. finally we were sitting at BP gas station on the out-of-the-city side Zakopianka route in Krakow at 3 am. but let me tell you what led us to this.

my friend, who I’m travelling with, lives near Poznan. so she had to hitchhike all the way to Krakow by herself. it would be crazy to make during the night, so the earliest realistic option was for her to get to Krakow around noon. and this is the official version of our setting out. it has to be the official version, ‘cos my mother would never let me go hitchhiking during the night. but…

Anna had to get a prescription for her meds before she could go to Krakow. and unfortunately her doctor is such a bitch, that she wouldn’t give her the prescription before 4 pm (travel was not an explanation for an earlier appointment). eventually my friend left her city around 5 pm and reached Krakow around midnight. the driver drop her off on the other side of the city, so it took her more than 2 hours to get to BP station, where I was waiting for her.

that was her side of a story. mine is as following. I told my mother that I’m going to meet Anna around noon, so I knew I have to disappear from our apartment before 4 pm. so I took my time to pack my things out, have a long bath and so on. I left my flat shortly after 3 pm and texted every friend I knew could spend some time with me. before 4 pm I was already sitting in the Zakopianka shopping centre with my backpack, guitar and bag, waiting for some kind of a miracle and cutting a box in pieces, so we could make the signs later.

finally one of my friends replyied, so I packed all pieces of the box to my guitar bag and went to the tram stop to wait for him. I spent 4 hours with him and our other friend in Re music club, drinking blackcurrant juice, texting with Anna and trying to make her get to Krakow faster.

3 past midnight my friend and I took a bus to Borek Falecki and in less than an hour I was sitting on the BP station, drinking coffee listening to the music from my mp3 player. I was bored, I was pissed off, I had enough of this whole trip before it even started. I had to lie when my mother called to ask where we were, so I didn’t feel well with this whole thing. I was smoking cigarettes one after the other just to kill time and calm down my nerves.

at 3 am, after I-don’t-know-how-much-texting, Anna has arrived.
